During the reign of Vakhtang Gorgasali and his successor Dachi Ujarmeli (V-VI centuries) new churches,
monasteries sprang up in the oldest district of Tbilisi - Qala.
The Anchiskhati monastery is one of the ancient relic of the past that Tbilisi has preserved to our days.
Near the building, there is a brick belfry.

The temple is situated
in the gorge of the Shan River in 12 km from the town Gori. It is well-known
medieval temple of the 7th century.
The temple's architecture is executed
in the same style as the Jvari Temple in Mtskheta. It's walls are full
of remarkable mural paintings of the XI century. Its facade is decorated by a great number of ingraved stone ornaments. |

Bolnisi Sioni Temple
was built in 478-493. It is situated 70 km from Tbilisi.
It is an outstanding
example of the earliest stage of ecclesiastical Georgian architecture.
The inscription preserved inside the temple represents the oldest specimen
of ancient Georgian writing. |

Ujarma is one of the
most ancient Georgian town. It was found in the III century. It has
been the residence of Georgian kings and most fortified castle in
that times.
Now it represents an architectural sight which is falling
into peaces and if it will not be restored, in several years there
will be nothing left from it. |
