Built in the XII-XIII centuries.
Located in south west from Tbilisi.
Restored in the XIX century.
Walls are covered with frescoes, which are the great examples of high development of georgian architectural monument painting of XII-XIII.
Beside the religious scenes there are portraits of historical personalities such as George III, Queen Tamara and George Lasha.

The XIII century cupola style church, located in Bolnisi district.
In the church inscriptions there are are mentioned King George and church builder Hasan - son of Arsen. By R. Schmerling mentioned King George is George Lasha, so the monument was built during his reign 1212-1222.
The Monument is splendidly covered with carvings.

Situated 12 km from the city of Kutaisi, used to be the largest centre of philosophy
and education in medieval Georgia.
It was built by king David the Builder, the founder of the powerful united feudal state of Georgia. In
addition to the large temple there have been preserved several churches
and ruins of the Academy, where in the XII century lived and worked
outstanding Georgian philosopher and thinker Ioann Petritsi.
In the Gelati Monastery king David created the Academy - Scientific-Educational
Centre, where all famous Georgian figures were collected.
In the next centuries began the process of enlargement of the Monastery Complex.
The Gelati Monastery as a whole represents a genuine treasure house
of medieval art. |

Monastery complex near Telavi. Founded in the VII century. The strongest and largest hearth of culture and education in that times.
In the XI-XII centuries Arsen Ikaltoeli ("Ikaltoeli" means "from Ikalto") founded here the academy.
Near the complex there are three churches and academy's ruins. From them the mainest is the VIII-IX centuries' one, named "Khvtaeba".
